LoDI Refund Claim Update:
The City reached a settlement with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) involving FICA (i.e. Social Security & Medicare) tax refunds to both the City and eligible uniformed members of the Police Department. The years covered by this settlement are 1989 through 2005. Eligible uniformed members who were on authorized Line of Duty Injury (LoDI) leave at some point during the years 1989 through 2005 will likely be eligible for a refund of the FICA taxes paid on LoDI payments received for a period of six months or less. You must have filed with the City to qualify for a FICA refund. The filing period closed in January of 2008.
The tax year 1989 refunds for uniformed LoDI FICA refund claims were mailed 9/29/2008. The City is currently finalizing a check run for tax year 1990.

NYPD CEA ENDORSES JOHN MCCAIN
“Some of the qualities that we’re known for is our leadership, integrity, courage, problem solving, conviction,” said Roy Richter, president of the New York City Captains Endowment Association. “Those were the qualities that we were looking for to endorse a candidate for president of the United States and we’re happy to offer our endorsement to a true American hero, a person of conviction and leadership, John McCain.” MSNBC - JANUARY 27, 2008
And, encroaching on Mr. Giuliani’s turf, Mr. McCain was endorsed by two New York police unions — the Captains Endowment Association and the Sergeants Benevolent Association — at an appearance in Fort Myers. NY TIMES JANUARY 27, 2008
